Divine Mercy Sunday

Do you celebrate the feast of Divine Mercy Sunday?
In Jesus' own words: "…I am Love and Mercy itself. When a soul approaches Me with trust, I fill it with such an abundance of graces that it cannot contain them within itself…” — from St. Faustina's Diary 1074
Jesus loves us and wants us to trust in Him! His mercy is greater than our sins, and He wants us to turn to His “ocean of mercy.”
And a great way to turn to Him, is to pray the chaplet He gave us!
Here's my top 5 reasons to love the Divine Mercy chaplet:
- MERCY & FORGIVENESS - Jesus promises: "The souls that say this chaplet will be embraced by my mercy during their lifetime and especially at the hour of their death” (Diary 754). Isn't that amazing?!
- EXTRAORDINARY GRACES - “I desire to grant unimaginable gracesto those souls who trust in My mercy” (Diary 687).
- EASY TO PRAY - this chaplet can be prayed in about 5 minutes and uses the rosary beads (or fingers!) you already carry.
- EASY TO MEMORIZE - the opening and closing prayers are optional, so there's only 3 short prayers to memorize.
- EASY TO PRAY ON THE GO - see reasons #2 and 3 😊
Pray this chaplet in ordinary moments throughout your day: while waiting at the doctor’s office, picking up kids, or taking a break in between chores!
It is especially powerful when praying during the 3 o'clock hour - the hour of mercy.
How to pray the Divine Mercy chaplet using rosary beads (without the optional opening and closing prayers):
So what are you waiting for??! Set aside a moment this week and pray this 5 minute chaplet.
I'll close with my FAVORITE line from the optional opening prayer:
O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!
- Sign of the Cross
- Our Father
- Hail Mary
- Apostles Creed
- On each large bead: Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.
- On the 10 small beads in each decade: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
- At the end (repeat 3 times): Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
