God is love

God is love

Inspiration never came…
Each week I spend time thinking and praying - asking the Holy Spirit to guide me in writing these newsletters.
To inspire me and give me the words He wants me to say to you.

Often times inspiration will start with a topic that keeps popping into my head. Something that I heard in a homily or read in the Catechism.  Or something personal that I'm experiencing or noticing in others.

First I'll search the bible and the Catechism for references to the topic.  Then I'll do internet searches to see what saints have said about it.

As I continue to think and pray about it, I will eventually feel inspired with the words I'm meant to share.  Words to make my topic personal, relatable, and encouraging.

Except this week, that part of inspiration never came.  I don't have a story to share or know how to elaborate on the topic.

I just have a phrase that keeps going round and round in my head:
God is love.

From 1 John 4:16
So we know and believe the love God has for us.  God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

So this week, that's all I got 😊
It seems fitting, with St. Valentine's Day on Saturday.  I guess it's just a reminder that God loves YOU.  He specially created YOU and loves YOU.  He wants YOU to be happy with Him in Heaven.❤️

I'll finish with a little more from 1 John, verses 17 - 19:
In this is love perfected with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so are we in this world.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.  For fear has to do with punishment, and he who fears is not perfected in love.

We love, because he first loved us.

Have a great week!

My encouragement for you (and me!) to seek the sacred this week:
Lent is right around the corner!😱  Ash Wednesday is next week!

Time to come up with a plan.  Our family prays the Stations of the Cross on Fridays during Lent (this is the booklet we use).
And on the other days, we pray the Seven Sorrows chaplet (month 2 of my membership!).

Prayer to the Holy Family
by Pope Francis

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in you we contemplate
the splendour of true love; to you we turn with trust.
Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that our families too
may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the Gospel
and small domestic churches.
Holy Family of Nazareth, may families never again experience violence, rejection and division; may all who have been hurt or scandalized find ready comfort and healing.
Holy Family of Nazareth, make us once more mindful
of the sacredness and inviolability of the family, and its beauty in God’s plan.
Jesus, Mary and Joseph, Graciously hear our prayer.
Amen.
